Hey,

My name is Candice, and I’m a full-time working mother of 5! cooking is my LIFE!  Well, the 5 kids, the job, and then the cooking.  I was born and raised in a VERY small town in Mississippi where my passion for cooking began as soon as I could push a chair up to the stove.  Actually, my passion for cooking started out as a passion for baking.  As a child I would get out my mama’s Bell’s best cookbook  and read though it for hours and hours soaking up every recipe and begging her to let me make them!  I was making tea cakes, buttermilk biscuits, and pie crust by age 9.  My passion for baking eventually lead to a career in cake decorating which I did professionally for several years.

Eventually, I wanted to broaden my cooking horizons  and took my cooking skills or lack of to professional kitchens to hone my culinary skills. (NO, I did not attend culinary school only the school of hard knocks.)  Over the course of the past 16 years I have cooked everywhere from diners, delis, and food trucks to fine dinning restaurants, country clubs, and bakeries.

3 years ago I decided to broaden my cultural horizons and loaded up the truck and moved to the Midwest, St Louis to be exact.  After the initial culture shock faded away  (“What do you mean you don’t have sweet tea?”  ” What? I’ve gotta pay to park?” “You seriously think i’m driving to work in all this snow?”) I eventually settled into my life as a St Louisan.  While I have mostly gotten use to life in the big city I still get VERY homesick from time to time mostly for the down home cooking that you can truly only get in the south! So I decided to start  blogging to share some of my most craved southern recipes as well as others I have came up with along the way  it is something I have really wanted to do for years! I am VERY excited and look forward to sharing my recipes and others i have found or learned over the years.   While the name of my blog is I put my foot in it (and for those who don’t know is southern for you cooked something very good! Girl that pecan pie is so good you put yo foot in it!) I will not  just be cooking southern style foods I will be cooking and sharing any and everything that fuels my passion for food, cooking, or life and I hope everyone who stops by enjoys reading about it along the way!

Hey, it’s me again with a few more things I think you should know about me if you’re gonna be reading my blog.

1. I am a cook, not a writer. I write because, and only because I have to for the blog sake. So that means I will make mistakes, it’s not that I don’t care or that I’m lazy it’s just I would rather be obsessing about a recipe not a comma.

2.I’m a quiet person by nature and it is a real struggle for me to come up with “interesting” stories for every single recipe. I did not start this blog to yammer on about myself on the daily. I started it solely for the purpose of sharing recipes. Cooking makes me happy and sharing the things I cook gives me a reason to cook more often.

3. I’m not a fan of cutesie (e.g.)  covered in sprinkles, shaped like a bunny or covered in hearts. If at some point you see something like that on my blog then the Dr. Has adjusted my dose and the effects will probably be short lived so don’t get to happy. Or, I’m making it for someone else at their request.
